Winston Mok
Executive Chairman
Winston Mok is the Chairman of ArtFusion Media School, a leading
digital media school in Singapore.
Mr. Mok served as a board member of Dreamcity Media, a leading
cable TV company (MSO) in Korea. Dreamcity Media has been the
most profitable investment by a foreign financial investor into
the Korean media sector. While at McKinsey, he developed a
business plan for and started a media distribution business for
a client. He designed an effective organization for a prominent
media organization. He also helped a global media group to
develop its China entry strategy.
Mr. Mok was most recently Managing Director of EMP Global and
its most senior officer based in Asia. EMP manages one of the
largest pools of private equity internationally: about USD 5
Billion in Asia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East and Africa.
In Asia, EMP manages the AIG Asian Infrastructure Funds, the
largest direct investment funds in Asia with about USD 2.8
Billions of committed funds.
Before his appointment at EMP, Mr. Mok was Director at GE
Capital, responsible for its direct investments in the
telecommunications/media sector in Asia Pacific.
Prior to joining GE Capital, Mr. Mok was a senior consultant at
the international management consulting firm McKinsey & Company,
where he worked in its New York, Sydney and Hong Kong (Greater
China practice) offices. Mr. Mok was a senior member and a
co-leader of its Greater China telecom/media practice. Mr. Mok
played a leading role in establishing McKinsey's China practice
and Shanghai office.
Mr. Mok was a board member of Ocean Park Corporation, a leading
tourist attraction in Hong Kong. He was a member of a Seoul
Metropolitan Government advisory board on attracting foreign
investments.
Winston was a speaker at the World Knowledge Forum in 2001 and
2002, at the Euromoney Institutional Investor Forum in Asia in
2002 and 2003, at the China Forum in 2004, the China Economic
Summit in 2005, and the Korea Investor Forum in 2005.
Mr. Mok graduated with the highest distinction from the Master's
program of MIT Sloan School of Management (1986), and also
obtained his Bachelor in Computer Science and Engineering from
MIT (1983) with distinction.
Winston has lived in six global cities (New York, Boston,
Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney) and worked in many other
locations (including Shanghai, Taipei, Seoul, Melbourne, New
Zealand), in addition to many other international deals and
assignments.
